Student Prompt

I won the Prompt thing so I'm done.

Trip to the Writing Center

I went to the writing center last week and it wasn't too bad. I went in there and read my essay to him. I was looking at my wording, tense's, and point of view mostly. There we found where I used first and second person. For the most part my wording was pretty decent so I only changed that a few times. Overall he said my paper was pretty good.
When I went there I was kind of nervous there wouldn't be someone to help me but someone showed up pretty quick. We went over what my paper was about and for what class it was for. We went over what I thought it needed work on. I read it to him and he helped me with that. Then he gave me some ideas to how i could improve my writing. My trip to the writing center was helpful in the end.

Soccer

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. It is played all over the world and is loved all over the world. People are insanely passionate about the sport for so many reasons. The main one is that it is the best sport in the world. The amount of passion, love, and respect for the game is unimaginable. Some people live for the sport and it is what they care about most. It is even referred to as the beautiful game.
There are many leagues all over the world including England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, and many other places around the world. This week in England the team Chelsea beat Manchester city who was first in the league tables at the beginning of the season. Now they are fourth and Chelsea is in first. Also Liverpool lost there game and are now in third. In Spain the two biggest teams played and drew 1-1 because of a last minute header.

Literary Analysis

We have been writing this Literary analysis for a little while now and I know some people are finished and some are not. I am one of those who are not. I have done a good bit but I'm not done yet. It is true that is due in 9 hours and I have another two pages to due and all my other homework too. But it can be done I would say. I have done my introduction and most of my body paragraphs. I am writing about how power causes corruption and how it is shown through Jack and Ralph's relationship.
So it is later now and I just finished my Literary analysis and it wasn't too bad. Out of all of it the two hardest parts were the introduction and the conclusion. They took some thought because you have to make them work with your points and begin/end the story. I definitely think there are some things I need to work on. One of those things is most definitely grammar. I'm positive I messed up some grammar thing during it. Also another big thing is what tense it is and what to write in. Overall I think I did a decent job on it.

Symbolism

One day a kid named Dave got mad at another kid named Josh. Their wasn't any particular reason he got angry, Dave just wanted to yell at someone. People gathered around to see if a fight would happen. They knew that these two got in a lot of fights. This Kid named Sara, who was one of Josh's friends, tried to get Dave to calm down but Dave wouldn't listen. There was another kid named Simon who didn't really know the Josh or Dave. Also there was a kid named Peter who was really smart and made straight A's. Peter stepped in between Josh and Dave and tried to calm the two of them down with logic and reason. This almost worked but Josh had already gotten too mad to calm down. Josh pushed Peter out of the way. Dave saw his chance and took a swing at Josh and hit him in the nose. Josh immediately started swinging back. But the kid named Simon decided to step in. First he punched Josh and then turned around and punched Dave. He told both of them to back off and to leave. Just like that the fight was over.
In life we can't solve every thing through peace and knowledge. It is true that somethings can be solved that way like splitting a candy bar or paying someone so they'll leave you alone. But there are some cases where everyone is so fired up no one will back down and they will keep fighting until the quarrel ends one way or another. In the story you could see the two evils which were Josh and Dave. First Sara who represented peace tried to get them to calm down so that there wouldn't be a fight, but she was ignored. Then Peter who represented intelligence and wisdom tried to use logic to stop them from fighting. Both times the fight wasn't stopped. The Fight ended up happening and was going to keep happening till one of the two evils was beaten. But Simon who represented light/dark, yin/yang, good/bad, could have sat there and watched instead used the evil inside of him to stop the fight which was good. It is people like him who get things done. People who sometimes have to do bad things for good reasons who can change the world.

How to Ignore Everyone

Today I am here to teach you how to ignore anyone and everyone. We will be going over some tips on how to ignore people and some ways to make them so annoyed that they will leave you alone. First off a few good things to have is a jacket or something with a hood. Also a pair of earbuds and some music on your phone. Now you want to find a comfortable place to sit. You want to put on your music loud enough where you can't hear anyone around clearly and put on your hood. You may kind of look like your asleep which will make most people just leave you alone and you can sit in peace.
Now say you don't have some of the things or people don't leave you alone you may have to try a different way. So when people start just randomly talking to you or telling you some story and you really could care less I would advise you to just tune them out. Every once in a while nod your head and they may think your listening. If they start asking questions you have two options. If they are little questions that don't take time to elaborate on like, "do we have math homework?" then just give them a simple yes or no. But if it some questions like, "what are your opinions on that?" or, "how do you feel about that?" and you don't want to talk about right now then you got to find another way. Two ways that work but also can make people mad is by answering with another question over and over again until they give up or answering with remarks like, "who knows, I don't" or, "it really depends on this and that you know". The goal is eventually they'll leave you alone and you can go back to doing whatever it was that you wanted to do.

Hollow City

I have started to read a knew book called Hollow City, which is the second book in the Peculiar Children series. It picks up after the Children escape the monsters and have to flee the Island. They are on a few boats trying to get to the mainland. A huge storm comes in and some trouble comes up. Eventually they make it too mainland but they are in the wrong place.
The author used really good details on describing the  storm and the events that happened. Also the book has already got pretty intense sense they are being hunted down. The author is still using pictures to give you an idea of whats going on. So far I am really enjoying the book, and its beginning was really good. I think I am going to enjoy this book a lot.

LOTF

An important seen in LOTF was the seen where Piggy is killed. This is important because one of the main characters are killed, but also the conch is destroyed. First off Piggy, he has been a very logical character. He has represented intellect, reason, and, logic. He has tried to maintain order through out the book. When he is killed it represents the death of all of theses traits. Next is the conch, it represents order and them working together. It gets shattered into pieces and that represents the breaking of everyone working well together.
Another thing to look at is the person who killed them which was Roger. Earlier in the book Roger is seen throwing rocks at at little kid but not being able to actually hit him. Now Roger pushes a boulder onto Piggy. This shows the progression of savagery from Roger and how he's become a sociopath. Also this shows how people are changing and how if this keeps going on they may all get killed.

Prompt

Prompt: Describe what a perfect world would be like.

Most people would describe a perfect world as one that has all good people and everyone is happy. One in which there is no crime, hate, wars, and all the other terrible things around. It could be like a hippies paradise where everyone is at harmony. But heres the thing this could never be done. If it was ever accomplished something would mess up and the system would collapse throwing humanity back to their usual selfish ways.
If the idealistic perfect world can't be reached then what can be reached? Well a good life is probably the closest thing too it. A good life is different for every one depending on what they want in life. I would say a few common things would be being happy most of the time, having a place to live, having someone that cares about them, having an ok job, and having enough money to support them. A perfect world can never be reached so you shouldn't try to reach it, but instead you should strive for a happy life.

LOTF Response

[Piggy:] "I don't agree with all Jack said, but with some.  'Course there isn't a beast in the forest.  How could there be?  What would a beast eat?"
"Pig."
"We eat pig."
"Piggy!"
"I got the conch!" said Piggy indignantly.  "Ralph--they ought to shut up, oughtn't they?  You shut up, you littluns!  What I mean is that I don't agree about this here fear.  Of course there isn't nothing to be afraid of in the forest.  Why--I been there myself!  You'll be talking about ghosts and such things next.  We know what goes on and if there's something wrong, there's someone to put it right."
He took off his glasses and blinked at them.  The sun had gone as if the light had been turned off. [...]
"Life," said Piggy expansively, "is scientific, that's what it is.  In a year or two when the war's over they'll be traveling to Mars and back.  I know there isn't no beast--not with claws and all that, I mean--but I know there isn't no fear either."
Piggy paused.
"Unless--"
Ralph moved restlessly.
"Unless what?"
"Unless we get frightened of people." (83-84)

This passage is a very important passage because this foreshadows simon's death later on in the book. In the passage they are talking about the beast which has been a key part in the story. At the end Piggy brings up the idea that the beast is a human. When Simon is killed they think he is the beast because it was raining and it was hard to see. Also Simon constantly says the only beast on the island is people. This links in all the other clues of simon's death and makes them make sense when he is killed.
Another reason this is significant is because this is one of the last times they are together before they split apart. This shows how they've been fighting a lot and why they split up. Piggy is still trying to use logic while everyone else dose not care. This also shows the split in the groups happening. This foreshadows the split in the groups and why it will happen.

Reading response 2

I'm still reading Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. Right now the monsters have found their location on the island. Some people go to try to make sure and they find out its true. When they get back people have been kidnapped and are being brought to a safer place. The kids are wandering whether to try save the others.
I think that the kids are going to go after the people who got kidnapped to rescue them. The book is making some big turns and keeping things interesting. The author is using a lot of vivd details to describe the setting of the knight and whats going on. Some of the things that didn't make since earlier is now starting to com together.

LOTF

Human nature varies from person to person. This is seen a lot in LOTF. For example, Jack has become savage from his time on the island obsessing over killing a pig to show his worth and prove to Ralph he is useful. Jack is now relying on human nature to tell him what to do with no parents and being one of the oldest there. Simon on the other hand has stayed calm so far and is not really worried about snakes or hunting. He has been helping with shelters even though no one else is. Also he gets fruit down for little kids. So Simon is staying chill and being helpful.
I believe this about human nature because people are different. Everyone has their own personalities so with that logic people would have different human natures. Basically people act different in societies, so when people are stranded on an island with no order people will act different. So human nature all comes down to the human themselves. In some ways they'll be similar to how they usually are but another side will come out and that other side is human nature.

Free Post

This past weekend was our first break of of the year, fall break. I didn't go out of town, or do anything that exciting. I mostly stayed home and relaxed. My sister and Mom had school and work on Thursday and Friday so I was home by myself. It was nice having the house to myself so I could relax in quiet. I didn't do much those days. I mostly watched Netflix.
On Saturday my sister had a birthday party to go to and the people we've been staying with went out to LSU. I stayed home again still not doing much, because relaxing is nice. Later they came back and we made dinner. We made like five different things and it was really good. On Sunday I went back to my dads and worked on homework. Overall my fall break was good.

Reading response 7

In Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children Jacob and the children are in danger. These things have been hunting people like them for years and the kids on the island have finally been found. Jacob wants to go into the present and warn his dad but Miss Peregrine is telling him no. She says that if he leaves he cant come back. Jacob dose not know what to do.
I think that if Jacob leaves he will be allowed back in because they need his abilities. I think some of the children are going to help Jacob because they want to keep the rest of the kids safe. I think some of the kids are going to go into the present even though there in danger to help Jacob and the others. The author is doing a good job at making the story exciting. The book is getting really interesting and I'm enjoying it.

Louisiana

"Should We Abandon Louisiana? In some ways, we already have." by Zack Kopplin is an article that talks about how Louisiana is ignored by the rest of the country. The recent flooding in Louisiana was the worst natural disaster since hurricane sandy. But if you looked at the news there was nothing about the flooding. Apparently the rest of the country had more important things to know about than the 40,000 families that have been displaced from there home. Or about the people stranded in there houses hoping that maybe someone will come and save them by boat.
After hurricane Katrina outsiders said to just bulldoze the city because eventually the state will be underwater anyway. The people in Louisiana didn't need to here this. All they wanted was some help. The people of Louisiana didn't just leave the city to rot though. They rebuilt the city back up despite all the people saying they shouldn't. Once again outsiders are saying its just better off if we just leave, but they should know we won't. We will rebuild and stand together as a community. Just because Louisiana taken another hit dose not mean we are going to fall down and run away. Because we are Louisiana we will get back up at fight back and rebuild our home.

Free Post

This weeks blog was a free post which is pretty nice. Free posts really allows people to right about whatever they want. It lets them express themselves through writing. It lets people be themselves and write about something they care about or something they feel like writing. Free posts are very important for writers because it allows them to write what they want too and for people to see their true style and feelings about things.
Free posts are important for people trying to become better writers because it opens their imagination. It allows them to write about things they usually wouldn't write about. Free post are great things that don't come around to often, but when they do people should take advantage of them. Use them to write to your best possible ability on things that you want too. Free post are great things that really help people become great writers.

Reading Response Weeek 6

Jacob keeps going through the time loop to go see the children. He is still meeting the kids and learning what they can do. Jacob is starting to learn secrets about the place and the kids. Jacob and Emma are becoming really good friends. They have been spending a bunch of time together.
I really like how the author is building the relationships between characters, especially Emma and Jacob. I'm also enjoying how the author is using vivid details to make it seam like your there. I think that the story is going to start speeding up with more action like in the beginning. I think something big is about to happen. So far I'm really enjoying the story.

Reading Response Week 5

In Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Jacob has is now in the past with the children. He is being taught on how they are in a time loop which the children's head mistress Miss Peregrine keeps working. Jacob gets to see the bombing that would have killed all of the children if they weren't in a loop. Jacob Has to go back to the present time so his father wont worry. Jacob and his dad get in a big fight when he comes back from the past.
I am still really enjoying the book and I feel like it's getting a lot more interesting. I think Jacob will keep going to the past to see the children and learn more about his grandfather. I really like how the author is bringing the story into the past and the way he is doing it with the time loop. I also think that there is going to be some tension between Jacob and his dad especially after their fight. I wonder when they will leave the island and if Jacob will leave.

Short Story

That night that Pedro left was terrible. That morning we all woke up and he was there. That day we were getting ready to move on to the next town so we could see if there were any more survivors. Ever since the war we have been moving from town to town trying to find people that hadn’t been taken or killed. We packed up whatever we had left and were moving to the edge of the small town we were staying in. Pedro seemed to be acting pretty normal, but every once and a while there was a small difference in the way he acted. He would get angry over the smallest things, and he got really violent sometimes. I thought it was just because of the war but looking back on it he really only started acting like this after we left this town about seventy miles away.

That night we grabbed our things and started walking. We only walked for thirty minutes when Pedro asked to take a break. We said sure and took a break. Pedro went to go check out the surroundings really quick. He came back silently and we didn’t know until he attacked us. With rocks in his hands he hit us over the head and we were out cold. We woke up the next day with only a little of our stuff still there. We were all tied together around a tree. That was the last time we have seen Pedro in months, but when were in certain towns we hear about someone who’s description fits Pedro’s. One day we may find him and if we do he better be ready to explain himself.

Dear One Year Olds

A very important skill for all one year olds to learn is how to walk. Once you learn how to walk you can go anywhere. Before you were stuck in that one place in the house, well not anymore because you have learned to walk. Now the whole house is yours to rome and adventure. So if you see a toy across the room and you want it, just stand up and walk over there. If you see a bowl of cheerios on the table and your feeling a little hungry, just walk on over there. The possibilities are endless when you learn how to walk.
Another important piece of advice is that you should learn to talk. Now you don't need to be having full out conversations but you want to say the occasional word just to impress random people and get free stuff. With this tool the opportunity of people giving you stuff for free has just massively increased. You could be in this little store and there could be this cup of cheerios you want just say some stuff and try to get it. It works a good percentage of the time.

Reading Response Week 4

I am still reading Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. In the part Im now in Jacob the main character has gone back in time accidentally trying to find the children. This leads to Jacob getting an angry mob on him and getting kidnaped.
I really enjoy how the author brings the story back in time and uses vivd details to describe everything in the past. The author makes it very subtle that he's in the past which i found was a good strategy for this particular story.

9/11

On September 11, 2001, four passenger airlines were hijacked by the islamic terrorist group
al-Qaeda. The four planes were all heading to California. Two of the planes hit the world trait center in New York City. One plain hit the north tower and one hit the south tower. Within 2 hours both buildings had collapsed. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Most of the west wing collapsed. The last plane was intended for the white house in Washington D.C., but the passengers on the plane rebelled against the terrorist and brought down the plane in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Around 3000 people were killed in total and 6000 more were injured.
This was the worst terrorist attack america had ever had. So many people died from this. The people on the last plane saved so many lives by crashing the plane before it could reach its destination. These people were some of the bravest people. Also the firemen who helped save people and tried to put out the fires. They truly made a difference in everything. Around 350 firemen died in 9/11, but they died saving people which is the most respectable thing ever.

Reading Response for Week 3

In Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Jacob is in wales trying to find information on his grandfather. So far all he's found is the house, which he got some locals to show him the way, but theres one small problem. There's no one there. His dad is having a lot of luck with all of the birds on the island though.
So far the book has been really good. I really enjoyed the part where the two locals bring him to the house because Jacob ends up getting tricked and walking into a barn full of manure. This was really funny to picture and the author used good vivd details to describe it. I think that Jacob is going to eventually find something to help him find out more on his grandfather. Also I think that Jacob will learn a lot more about the house very soon.

My Phone

So this weekend my phone broke. The screen didn't crack, but the battery gave out. Now it dies really quickly, the phone overheats, and it will restart for no reason. It doesn't just restart once though, it restarts over and over again. This is super aggravating and I need a new phone really bad. This phone is basically an expensive paperweight
I have an old iPhone 4 that I was going to use until my new phone comes in, but I left that phone in my pocket of my good jacket. Then I go and lose my jacket. So now I don't have a phone at all, and I don't have my good jacket. Now I have to find another jacket to wear and wait for my new phone. I hope it comes in soon, because it sucks not having a phone.

Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children

Recently I have been reading Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I'm only a hundred pages in, but it's been a pretty good book. Its about a kid named Jacob. He is sixteen when he goes through a terrible family accident. He uncovers some information about the family member and heads off to Wales to follow a lead that could help understand their death.
In this book the author uses old photograph that were distorted to help tell the interesting story. The pictures are of children who are doing peculiar things like floating or have no head. this gives you ideas of what these kids look like when the author describes them. Also I like the way the author tells the story. The way he tells the story makes it interesting to read.

Sky Key

Sky Key by James Frey is the second book in the Endgame series and was an excellent read. This series is about twelve kids who are representing there blood line. When the event comes they will solve puzzles and fight trying to make there line be the the best for the knew world.
One thing i enjoyed was the authors writing style. Every chapter is a different person allowing you to know everyones thoughts, opinions, and actions. Another thing i enjoyed was the amount of action in the story. It always kept the story interesting. Lastly I liked the story line. The plot and the backstories are so intricate. You learned so much about each character, and it gave you a sense of knowledge about everything going on.

United as One

United as One by Pittacus Lore, is the sixth and last book in the Lorien legacies series. The series is about 10 alien kids that come to earth that look exactly like humans but have supper powers. They are being hunted by another alien group that wiped out their entire planet. Now they live on the run until they are strong enough to fight back.
What I liked a lot about this book was how the author ended the book. This is one of the better endings out of the books that i've read. Especially since this was the ending to a series. To me it was a good fit. Another thing I enjoyed was how the story was told from multiple angles. This really let you see a lot more of the story, and understand things you wouldn't have if it was from just one point of view. Overall this was a good book and a good series that I really enjoyed.
